La Relance: From 1982 to the present day


1982 : Launch of La Relance – Atelier de réadaptation au travail, an employment rehabilitation centre founded by psychologist Jacques Bertrand and criminologist Denise Descoeurs. It’s the first job integration company in Quebec.

1983 : Opening of a Gulf Canada service station. La Relance welcomes its very first trainee.

1984 : Construction of our first car wash. La Relance signs a 10-year lease with Gulf Canada.

1985 : La Relance welcomes 34 youth: the client demographic is getting younger.

1986 : Creation of a second job integration company, Hebdo Ménage, a commercial cleaning and janitorial service.

1988 : Roll-out of a pilot “Job Placement Club” project.

1991 : Creation of the Employment Assistance Service (club).

1993 : Creation of the Job Finding Strategy program.

1995 : La Relance joins the Collectif des entreprises d’insertion du Québec.

1997 : Implementation of Vélo Communautaire +, a community bike-sharing program for which La Relance receives an award.

1998 : Implementation of the Specialized Service for People with Disabilities (SSPD).

1999 : La Relance comes to the rescue of Rebuts solides canadiens, a private Hull-based cardboard and paper sorting company that employs persons with disabilities and is about to relocate to Montréal.

2001 : La Relance goes green: launch of the Computers for Schools Technology Centre (CFSTC), forerunner of La Relance Technology Service (LRTS). The Service Centre moves to 270 St-Laurent Blvd., now called Des Allumettières Blvd.

2006 : Roll-out of an employer awareness program about hiring people with disabilities. Introduction of “Employment Tuesdays.”

2007 : Opening of Valoritec, an electronics recycling and repair company.

2009 : Adoption of La Relance’s environmental policy. Opening of Transport La Relance.

2010 : Valoritec obtains ISO 14001:2004 certification. Opening of Souvenir Unique.

2011 : Implementation of the Le PONT program. LRTS obtains ISO 14001:2004 certification. First Super Job Dating session for people age 50 and over.

2013 : Opening of OutaouaisQualifié.com. Creation of a Job Dating program for people with disabilities—a first in Quebec!

2014 : A change in management: after 32 years, La Relance founder Jacques Bertrand steps down as general manager. He is succeeded by the current G.M., André Landry.

2016 : Adoption of the Strategic Plan 2016–2021, which includes, among other things, some changes to La Relance’s mission and a new visual identity.
